Mike Anklewicz - clarinet, saxophones, percussion Mike is the fearless leader of KlezFactor. Mike has attended KlezKamp and KlezKanada, and was the leader of the Queen's Crescent Klezmer Band in Kingston, Ontario. Mike truly believes that KlezFactor will be bigger than The Beatles. But if not the Beatles, then surely Britney Spears. Mike is currently a PhD candidate at York University for Musicology and Ethnomusicology; and is an instructor of saxophone at Toronto's Royal Conservatory of Music. Michael Smith - bass Michael has been rocking the Toronto music scene for generations, and has played Klezmer for eons. Despite his vast experience, he maintains a youthful appearance through Yoga, and a steady diet of strawberries and yoghurt. Ali Berkok - piano, keyboards
Ali, originally from Kingston, Ontario, is Toronto's reigning Melodica King. He honed his craft at a young age, in a household where melodica was not just an instrument, but a way of life. Beginning at the tender age of 2 1/2, Ali survived the rigorous training and has now taken his place at the forefront of the melodica scene. Ali occasionally plays piano in a jazz venue, when his busy melodica playing schedule permits him. Ali is also active with his own jazz group - Arkana. www.aliberkok.com Jaro Dabrowski - guitar
Jaro is a learned scholar as well as an amazing musician. He recently completed his master's degree in ethnomusicology from York University and plays a plethora of percussion as well as guitar, kazoo and is also a masterful singer. In his spare time, he enjoys a good game of boggle. Dave MacDougall - drums
Dave brings both rock and jazz sensibilities to KlezFactor. A graduate of the University of Toronto and is in high demand as a drummer and as a teacher. When not whipped into a frothing frenzy of frenetic foul-mouthed fomentation, he makes folk art from ball bearings and used staples.
Ben Plotnick - violin Ben is the baby of KlezFactor, joining the group just shy of his 11th birthday. He is considered to be a country fiddling prodigy, but makes time for Klezmer to get in touch with his Jewish roots. He is currently a student at Humber College and hails from Calgary, Alberta. ![]() For information - info@klezfactor.com To book KlezFactor, please contact: Marilyn Gilbert Artist Management, Inc 1153 Queen St. W., Suite 201 Toronto, ON.
